Sneak Peeks...

This year, I've decided to try something new.

I'm going to be posting just a couple images from each wedding on the blog a couple days after the wedding to give the couple and their family & friends a little mini-preview.

Once the couple have seen their finished wedding pictures, I'll do one of my usual wedding blog posts with lots of pictures and links to the venues.

Kimberly & Jason Engagement

Down to the old stomping grounds in downtown Cambridge for Kimberly & Jason's engagement pictures.

We couldn't have asked for nicer weather and these two were complete naturals in front of the camera.

They're getting married at Wings of Paridise on August 16, 2008.

Out for a walk

We took the kids out for a walk this evening and for once I actually brought the camera.

Of course, I wanted to take a picture of some old, cool shack on a busy road, but once my wife vetoed that, I decided to focus on the kids.

We wound up at an old reservoir near our house and to be honest it was pretty ugly, but the light was nice...

Taking pictures of 1 year olds is like trying to herd cats.

Jill + Mike | Engagement

I always like to go somewhere different for my shoots, so when Jill suggested going to High Park in Toronto I was all for it.

Then when she mentioned that the Cherry Blossom tree's would be in bloom, I was really excited.

We also went downtown to shoot in Grafiti Alley and paid a visit to the Secret Swing.

Jill & Mike are getting married in the Chatham area on July 5, 2008.

Rachel + Chris | Engagment

I took a drive down to Rachel's parents farm for the engagement pictures since that's were the wedding photo's are going to be and if I can, I like to check things out beforehand.

We found a bunch of cool little spots for pictures.

Rachel & Chris are getting married on June 21, 2008 at the Huron Park Baptist Church

The reception is being held at the Elmhurst Inn

Cliff's Mautner's Workshop

Last week I had the privilege of attending Cliff Mautner's Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp.

Cliff Mautner's Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp

Cliff is one of THE BEST photographers on the planet. He's an official spokesman for Nikon and is one of the most sought after speakers at the major conventions.

Over the years, Cliff has developed a unique style for shooting in what most photographers consider 'bad light'... High noon on a cloudless day. While most photographers (me included...) run for the shade, Cliff embraces the harsh light and makes it work for him.

Cliff is one of the best teachers I've ever met and was completely honest about his techniques and his business.

The three days I spent with Cliff have given me the skills and confidence to make great pictures under any lighting conditions.

If you are a photographer who is serious about improving your pictures, I think Cliff's workshop is a must.

Here are some pictures that I took from the workshop the show some of the things Cliff tought us.

Jack + Emma turn one!

Better late than never....

On March 30th, Jack + Emma celebrated their first birthday with a big party at our place.

With everyone showing up early, I didn't get a chance to get some cool pictures with their cool (and expensive ;)...) birthday outfits, just a couple quick snaps.

Of course, what's a first birthday without a first birthday cake?

Random shots of the kids...

This post is going to kill two birds with one stone.

The grandparents are always complaining about never seeing enough pictures of Jack & Emma, so here are some random shots from the past week or two.

Since wedding season hasn't really started up for me yet and everyone's waiting for some spring color for their engagement shoots, this gives me something to put up on the blog for all three people :) that have subscribed (if you want to be the fourth, just click on that little orange RSS button up there...)

This years going to be a busy one, I've only got a few remaining spots left for 08, so if you're looking for wedding photographer give me a call.

The new website is up and running!

It seems like it's taken forever, but the new site is finally up.

www.capturingthelight.com

I think the design is great and feel I finally have a website that shows off my pictures to their full potential.

Please have a look around and see what's new.

I'd love to hear peoples thoughts, just leave a comment on this blog or drop me an email.
